Measuring the Effects of Income on Well-being - A New Approach

Abstract

While most of the prior welfare studies have looked at the general income effects on well-being, this paper focuses on the poverty discount and its association with well-being. We estimate for what population groups the poverty discount is the highest and discuss how government policies may help to improve well-being for vulnerable populations.
